South Florida Sports Recap Feb 2-8

Last week in South Florida Sports, there were 9 games played for 3 different sports. The overall record last week for our teams were 6-3. Some standout players of the week were Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov of the Florida Panthers, and Lionel Messi of Inter Miami. 

On Thursday, February 6th, the Miami Heat traded Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors in return for Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a first round pick. This was part of a 5-team deal that also landed the Miami Heat Davion Mitchell in return for Josh Richardson and a second round pick. This trade is a win for the Heat as it addresses their size and defensive needs, as well as ending the Jimmy Butler chapter with the Heat. 

After a tough 4 game stretch, the Florida Panthers will be taking a break as it is time for the NHLs Four Nations Faceoff Tournament. The Panthers have the most representation in the league for the tournament with 8 players participating. The players participating for the Panthers are: Finland: Aleksander Barkov, Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen, and Niko Mikkola. United States: Matthew Tkachuk. Canada: Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett. Sweden: Gustav Forsling.
